In good news we heard of a Scotsman in Nepal who helped raise money for a well, and another story about hand raising a lowland gorilla.
Senator Laird weighed in on tall buildings going up in and around Santa Cruz. He talked about his bill to ease the financial burden of lawsuits over past sexual abuses, on institutions like schools. It is needed because the governor has all but gotten rid of the statute of limitations on such suits. He also gave his thoughts on Governor Newsome's current mandate that cities empty homeless camps.

In the Ag report, Michael Olson told us of how SEBO Farms are using technology in agriculture. Locally, Intuit made a generous donation to our Homeless Garden Project.

Doctor Pete explained why it is hard to save a horse when it breaks a leg. He again mentioned that there are too few vets, and what is being done about it. The vet boards are dictating to doctors more about exactly how to do certain procedures. We also heard when is the best time to spay or neuter a pet.
In the movie reviews there were two picks of the week. They were Sharp Corner and Sew Torn.
We heard harmonica music, or rather music that included harmonicas.

We were off the air Wednesday of this week, due to a problem with our provider.
Today we had a New York minute with Jacobi, who is on his annual gastronomical pilgrimage.
Gary Shapiro hung out singing old songs with Ray Bradbury as a little kid. His childhood is also when he palled around with Leonard Nimoy, whom his mom had befriended. Must be nice.
Cee Gee, whom we met last week, gave us the number recently reported by Visit California, about tourism dollars spent here. It was well north of $1B. Very nice.
The musical theme of the day was Victory in Europe Day, of which today is the eightieth anniversary.

Rachael stopped by with her book, Fowl Play: A History of the Chicken from Dinosaur to Dinner Plate. She talked also of Minecraft in the library and who hangs up the phone after a call is finished.
Lynn Sullivan Chacon was also in the studio, talking about the Haven housing project planned for the open space between Hidden Glen in Scotts Valley and Henry Cowell park.

Gail Pellerin let us know it is mental health month, and told us what a good time she had at Big Sur marathon, cheering on her daughter.

Doctor Pete discussed how to get a dog to eat a new food. The trick that worked with his own dog involved bananas. He also talked about the current state of veterinary medicine. We have too few vets now, but several new schools are coming online.
Movies were quirky, but there were several favorites. They were The Surfer, with Nicholas Cage, Boujour Tristesse and Vulcanizadora.
Charlie was full of good ideas for gardening related gifts to give for Mother's Day.

In good news we heard of a group of volunteers in the UK who built a house extension for a disabled man and his family, as well as of a woman, also in the UK, who has rescued ten thousand animals.
Speaking of animals, a naughty duck made it into the traffic report several times today.
