Gail Pellerin, who goes on break soon and will then be back in her district, is going to try one of the new DMV kiosks, at a Safeway in Sacramento. She will let us know whether she was able to get new tags from it. She mentioned at risk programs about which she is concerned, like head start, meals in schools, prenatal care and child care. She gave a politician's answer when asked her opinion of the recent name change at the Cocoanut Grove, which is fine. She is excited about her daughter getting married, which will happen a year from now.
Mark Mozena has not had much good news for us recently, but there was some today.
- China may have performed the first ever successful docking and refueling in space. A huge step for continuous space exploration.

Dr. Pete was treated to the story we heard earlier in the week of Jack finding a bag of sixty pill pockets and eating them all. Assembly member Dawn Addis has been busy lately. She discussed all of these:
- She is still working on reducing heat-related illness among farm workers.
- She is following up on the investigation and cleanup of the recent BESS fire in Moss Landing.
- She got to ride in a bright red '58 Triumph roadster in a Fourth of July parade.
- She is looking into the problem of under-insured people in California. Apparently it is a widespread problem, and appears to be by design on the part of insurers.
Will Fort of Big Basin State Park is part of the project to reimagine the park after the CZU fires there not long ago. They have solicited input from the public, who can see the plans in detail online.

As has been true lately, Mark Mozena had plenty to talk about in his space report, but it was not all good.
- Trump’s Spending Bill includes $10B for NASA - vast majority for human exploration programs in southern NASA Centers. No help for science programs.
- A new fight over the Space Shuttle Discovery and should it move to a Texan museum.
- EU introduces massive Space Act - touches on regulations across all space industry. Potentially huge impact to the commercial market.
- MethaneSAT - a methane monitoring mission backed by Google and Bezos has failed in orbit after 1 yr
- Rare snowing in Atacoma Desert in Chile caused the European Telescopes to be switched into safety modes.
- New drama between Elon and Trump and a new political party
During the Ag report, Michael Olson had Ron Haedicke on to tell us all about the upcoming Santa Cruz County Fair, which regular listeners will know Rosemary and Bill love.
